25/09/2023 - RESOURCE PERSON AT STATE LEVEL NATIONAL SCIENCE SEMINAR

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, was invited as a Resource Person for the State-Level Science Seminar held on 25 September 2023. The programme was jointly organized by the Andhra Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (APCOST), Government of Andhra Pradesh, and the Department of Education, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari contributed her academic expertise and shared scientific knowledge with the participants. The seminar provided a platform for promoting scientific awareness, encouraging innovative thinking and strengthening the scientific outlook among teachers and students.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Department of Botany, invited as resource person  at state  level  science seminar on  "Millets-a super food or a diet Fad" programme on 22th  September, 2023 , organized by the Dept. of Education,  Krishna, Andhra Pradesh at patamata girls high school. 

 

19/09/2023 - RESOURCE PERSON AT KRISHNA DT NCSC SCIENCE TEACHERS ORIENTATION AT DHANEKULA ENGINEERING COLLEGE

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Department of Botany, invited as resource person at State level NCSC teachers mentoring programme on 19th  September, 2023 organized by the Dept. of Education NTR District, Andhra Pradesh at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.

The objective of this programme is to motivate and encourage the teachers towards recent innovations and also to explain how to prepare he students for NCSC presentations.  Total 1500 teachers from different schools, organizing committee members actively participated in this programme. 

 

 

15/09/2023 - RESOURCE PERSON AT NTR DT NCSC TEACHERS ORIENTATION PROGRAM AT ANDHRA LOYOLA COLLEGE- VIJAYAWADA

   Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Department of Botany, invited as resource person  at District level NCSC teachers mentoring programme on 15th  September, 2023 organized by the Dept. of Education NTR District, Andhra Pradesh at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.

The objective of this programme is to motivate and encourge the teachers towards recent innovations and also to explain how to prepare he students for NCSC presentations.  

Total 300 teachers from different schools, organizing committe members actively participated in this programme. 

                          

10/07/2023- NURSERY VISIT- COLLECTION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLANTS

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, organized a one-day educational field visit to a nursery on 10 July 2023 for II B.Sc. Botany students.

The main objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to different varieties of plants, soil types, nursery management techniques and cultivation practices. Students observed various ornamental, medicinal, horticultural and other plant species and gained knowledge about their growth requirements, propagation methods and maintenance practices.

A total of 45 students and faculty members participated in the visit. The programme provided valuable hands-on learning experience and enhanced students' understanding of plant diversity, nursery management and practical horticultural techniques.

 

 

13/07/2023- ONE DAY WORKSHOP 0N MUSHROOM CULTIVATION TECHNIQUE

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada, in collaboration with Tanusree Mushrooms, Vijayawada, organized a one-day hands-on training workshop on Mushroom Cultivation on 13 July 2023 for III B.Sc. DB Section students.

A total of 19 students participated in the workshop. Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Andhra Loyola College, and Mr. T. Jaya Chandra, Tanusree Mushrooms, Vijayawada, served as resource persons.

The resource persons explained the importance and nutritional value of mushrooms and demonstrated the various stages involved in mushroom cultivation. The training covered substrate preparation, sterilization techniques, spawning, cultivation procedures, harvesting methods and marketing opportunities for different varieties of mushrooms.

The workshop provided students with valuable practical exposure to mushroom cultivation techniques and created awareness about the potential of mushroom farming as a sustainable, income-generating self-employment opportunity.

 

24/06/2023- FIELD TRIP- COLLECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSHROOMS

24 June 2023 – Field Trip: Collection and Identification of Different Types of Mushrooms

As part of the curriculum, the Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, organized a one-day field trip for III B.Sc. Botany students on 24 June 2023 within the ALC campus.

The main objective of the field trip was to collect and identify different types of mushrooms and understand the distinguishing characteristics of edible and poisonous mushrooms. Students gained practical knowledge of mushroom diversity, their morphological features, and their identification through direct field observation.

A total of 25 students and faculty members participated in the programme. The field trip provided valuable hands-on learning experience and helped students develop practical skills in mushroom collection, observation and identification.
