27-08-2024- ONE DAY STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON NEW INNOVATIONS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR DISTRICT SCIENCE OFFICERS

  STATE-LEVEL WORKSHOP FOR DISTRICT SCIENCE OFFICERS

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, organized a One-Day State-Level Workshop for District Science Officers (DSOs) on 27 August 2024 at Andhra Loyola College.

A total of 22 District Science Officers from different districts of Andhra Pradesh participated in the workshop. Rev. Fr. P. R. John, Rector, ALC, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of science education and its role in societal development. Dr. T. Srikumar, Dr. B. Siva Kumari, and Dr. Y. T. Prabhu served as resource persons and shared their expertise on relevant aspects of science education and innovation.

The workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and exchange of ideas among science education personnel, contributing to the strengthening of science education and capacity-building initiatives.

                    

                           

24-08-2024 - ONE DAY ORIENTATION FOR INSPIRE- MANAK- DISTRICT LEVEL TEACHERS

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Krishna District, organized a One-Day Orientation Programme for District-Level Selected INSPIRE-MANAK Student Projects on 24th August 2024 at Andhra Loyola College.

The programme was organized to guide selected students and their project guide teachers in developing innovative scientific projects and preparing for the subsequent stages of the INSPIRE-MANAK competition. Approximately 250 selected project guide teachers, along with selected students, participated in the programme.

The inaugural session commenced at 10:00 a.m. in the presence of Rev. Fr. G.A.P. Kishore, Principal; Rev. Fr. P.R. John, Rector; and Mr. M. Hussein, District Science Officer (DSO), Krishna District. Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Department of Botany, also participated in the programme.

The orientation programme focused on providing guidance to project guide teachers and students regarding the selection, development and presentation of innovative scientific ideas. It emphasized scientific creativity, problem-solving skills, innovation and the importance of nurturing young scientific talent.

The programme served as an important platform for interaction among students, project guide teachers and educational officials, facilitating better understanding of the objectives and expectations of the INSPIRE-MANAK scheme.

 

06-08-2024- ONE DAY FIELD TRIP TO KONDAPALLY FOREST

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, organized a one-day field trip to Kondapalli on 3rd August 2024 for Second- and Third-Year B.Sc. Botany students. A total of 33 students, along with faculty members, participated in the programme.

The primary objective of the field trip was to explore the biodiversity of Kondapalli, study its diverse flora and fauna, and create awareness about the ecological significance of the region. The students also visited the historic Kondapalli Fort to observe its architectural features and understand its historical and cultural significance.

Dr. T. Rosemary and Rev. Fr. G. Jayaraj accompanied the students and explained the various plant species, vegetation patterns and fauna observed in the region. They also highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation and the need to protect natural ecosystems.

The field visit provided students with an opportunity to observe nature directly, identify different plant species and correlate their classroom learning with field-based experiences.
