2nd & 3rd Sep, 2016- NATIONAL SEMINAR - "EMERGING TRENDS IN ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT"

The Departments of Botany, Biotechnology & Microbiology have organized a two day DBT – MHRD, Govt of India, New Delhi, sponsored National Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Environment and Sustainable Development”on 2^nd & 3^rd September, 2016 at Andhra Loyola College,(Autonomous),Vijayawada.

The beloved Guests of Honor   Prof. Rama Krishna Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Krishna University, Rev. Fr. Dr. A. Francis Xavier, SJ Director, ALIET graced the occasion and Prof. M. Basaveswara Rao was the Keynote speaker for the same. In his speech, he mentioned the importance of Environment and its Sustainable development.

The Seminar was enthralling with a galaxy of speakers across the country. Speakers covered the  topics related to Environmental protection issues , Marine Fungi and its role in Environment, Biodiversity and Biotechnology, Health and Food, Wikipedia on Social and Environmental issues., Nanotechnology in Environment etc.

The Eminent Invited  speakers Prof. M. Basaveswara Rao from  Krishna University, Dr. Subodh Sasikumar Kulkarni, Environmentalist from  Maharastra, Dr. Venkateswara Sharma from  Pondicherry University, Prof. B. Ravi Prasad Rao from Sri  Krishnadevaraya University, Dr. J. Srinivas, Scientist from NIN, Hyderabad & Dr. P. Sunitha, Scientist, from Dr. Y.S. R. Horticulture University presented their talks in the seminar.

The participants from 7different states, covering 20 Universities, 58 Colleges and 4 research stations attended the Seminar. Total 247 participants who include faculty, scholars and students were present. We could get 247 articles from various universities and colleges across the country. The 2 days Seminar was divided into 4 sessions. Dr. B. Venkateswara Rao, Dr. M. C. Rao, Dr. K. Venkateswara Rao, Dr. A. Annie Williams and Mr. P. Srinivasa Rao chaired the sessions.

The Seminar was coordinated by Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Convener & DBT-co ordinator along with the Organizing Secretaries Dr. J. Chandra Sekhar Rao, Dept of Botany, Ms. V. Kavitha, Dept of Biotechnology & Ms. M. Glory from Dept of Microbiology. All the faculty and students of the above Departments participated actively in the seminar.
