01-12-2021 - AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT RURAL SCHOOL

The Dept. of Botany in collaboration with TMR & VMC High School, Krishna District organized an AIDS Awareness programme on 1st Dec, 2021. All the registered students, Teachers and ALC Students participated in this program.

The School Head Master and other teachers well explained the importance of awareness on AIDS

The ALC students with the help of charts, demo pieces explained the causes, eradication and protective measures to prevent HIV VIRUSES. The programme ended with the rally.

30/11/2021- NCSC- STUDENT PROJECTS EVALUATION

The Dept. of Botany in collaboration with Krishna District Education Dept. organized DST, NCSTC and  APCOST sponsored Division Level 29th National Children Science Congress student Project Evaluation on 29th and 30th Nov, 2021 at Andhra Loyola College.

All the 520 registered students and teachers participated in this programme. The Jury Members evaluated the projects both in offline and online mode. The theme of the event is Science for Sustainable Living, the students explained five sub themes with the help of charts and models. 

All the officials of ALC, officials from District Education Dept. participated in this programme. Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Dept. of Botany organized this programme. Total 12 Jury Members from different Colleges invited for Evaluation of the Projects,  The programme concluded with the Felicitation by the Management Officials.

24/11/2021- ONE DAY FIELD TRIP- VSR NURSERY- I B.SC STUDENTS

As a part of the curriculum , the Dept. of Botany organized a one day field trip to SVR Nurseries located at Tadeppali, Guntur Dt, on 24th November, 2021.Total 64 B.SC Botany Students actively participated in this field trip.

The objective of this programme is to  expose the students the Nursery structure, components, soil types, propagation methods, drip irrigation systems and Fertigation mechanisms.

Students also learned about different types of  plants, seed beds preparation and transplantation methods. Dr. P. Srinivasa Rao, Dept. of Botany accompanied the Students.

23/11/2021- HEALTH AWERENESS PROGRAMME ON - NUTRITION FOR ADOLESCENCE

 The Department of Botany organized a hybrid mode of Health Awareness Programme on 'Nutrition for Adolescence' in Collaboration with APCOST and  Aahara Kranthi (ICAR, ICMR and Vignan Bharathi) on 23rd  November, 2021.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Dept. of Botany  explained the importance of the theme, Rev. Fr. Correspondent enlightened the students regarding the importance of Health and awareness on health. He also explained the different types of medicinal plants and their uses.

The Resource Person Dr. K. Sirisha, Associate Professor, Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College, Vijayawada delivered a talk on importance of balanced diet especially for girl child. 

 Total 85 students in offline mode and 285 participants in online mode participated in this program.

16-11-2021- INSTITUTIONAL VISIT- TO KVSR SIDDHARTHA PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES - INCUBATION CENTRE

The Department of Botany organized an one day Institutional visit to Incubation center at KVSR Siddhartha Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vijayawada on 16th November, 2021. As a part of our curriculum, 45 III B.SC Biology Students participated in this programme.  

The Students visited the incubation center, biosafety lab and Culture rooms. In charge of Incubation room Sri, Manohar explained the structure and objectives of HPLC, GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY, PROTEIN ANALYSIS, PLASMOANALYSIS, SPECTROPHOTOMETRY, Food adulteration, Water analysis, Soil Analysis, Incubation lab, Bio safety lab, Pharmacognosy and pharmacology departments.

Dr.  V. Rao, Principal, KVSR SIDDARTHA INSTITUTIONS, Dr. V. Karuna Sree, HoD, Pharmacognosy Dept. explained the Identification, Isolation and Analysis of drugs.

Mr. K. Manohar, In- charge of Incubation center explained the importance of all the devices and their role in research and in medicine.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Dept. of Botany was the in charge of this  Programme.

14-11-2021- INVITED LECTURE ON " ROLE OF MOLECULAR MARKERS - CROP IMPROVEMENT"

The Department of Botany organized an invited talk on Molecular Markers In Crop Improvement on 14th Nov, 2021 for the III B.SC Students as a part of the curriculum.

Ms. V. Kavitha, former HoD of Dept. of Biotechnology, ALC delivered a talk on “role of Molecular Markers In Crop Improvement”

She explained the importance of Molecular markers, design, RAPD, RFLP, Use of Molecular markers in molecular biology and biotechnology to identify a particular sequence of DNA in a pool of unknown DNA. RFLP method is used to construct chromosome map of human being, rice, wheat, maize and microbes, RAPD detects dominant variations in the genome.

11-11-2021- II DAY WORKSHOP ON INSTRUMENTATION

The Department of Botany organized a One Day Workshop on Instrumentation for the first B.Sc Students in collaboration with Dept. of Biotechnology on 11th November, 2021. The Workshop conducted for degree students to expose more towards the different types of the Instruments.

On 10th , the second B.Sc Degree Students Visited Electronics Lab to learn about Lux Meter, Thermometer, Rain Guaze, Anemometer which are commonly used in the Ecology Practical’s.

On 11th , the First B.Sc Degree Students Visited Biotechnology Lab, Botany and Interdisciplinary Labs  to learn about different types Microscopes, Hot Air Oven, Laminar air flow, Bacterial Staining Techniques and identification of lower flora by using different devices.

All the officials of the management, Dr. Rakesh, Associate Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, K. L. University invited as Resource Person. Sir explained about the importance of different types instruments and how to use in their practical’s.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Dr. P. Srinivasa Rao and Ms. S. Srilakshmi  participated in this programme.
