29-11-2024 - VISIT TO SOLAR POWER EXPO

Dr. B. Siva Kumari attended the Solar and Green Energy Expo held at the Convention Center in Vijayawada on 29th November 2024. The event showcased innovative advancements in sustainable practices and technologies.

Key Highlights of the Visit:

  1. Solar Energy Solutions:

    • Observed a variety of stalls displaying the latest solar energy technologies, including panels, inverters, and solar-powered devices.
  2. Millet-Based Innovations:

    • Explored exhibits promoting millet cultivation, processing techniques, and value-added millet-based products. Emphasis was placed on the nutritional benefits of millets and their role in sustainable agriculture.
  3. Nursery Establishments:

    • Examined diverse nursery setups showcasing methods of plant propagation, maintenance, and commercialization of ornamental and medicinal plants.
  4. Government Subsidies and Initiatives:

    • Learned about various government schemes and subsidies available for promoting solar energy, millet farming, and nursery establishments. Information on support programs aimed at encouraging sustainable practices was shared.

The expo provided valuable insights into the integration of green energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental conservation. It highlighted the importance of adopting innovative technologies and government-supported initiatives to achieve sustainability goals.

16-10-2024 - ATTENDED ONE DAY STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE ACTION CAMPIGN

State-Level Workshop on Climate Change Campaign

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Head, Department of Botany, and Rev. Fr. Dr. Y. T. Praphu, Research Director, Andhra Loyola College, participated in a one-day State-Level Workshop on Climate Change Campaign organized by the Red Cross Society at Lemon Tree Hotel on 16 October 2024.

The workshop focused on creating awareness about climate change and environmental challenges among students and the public. Representatives from 40 colleges participated and deliberated on the significance of climate action and effective strategies for engaging students in climate awareness and sustainability initiatives. The workshop provided valuable insights into strengthening student participation in addressing climate-related concerns.

27-08-2024- ONE DAY STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON NEW INNOVATIONS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR DISTRICT SCIENCE OFFICERS

  STATE-LEVEL WORKSHOP FOR DISTRICT SCIENCE OFFICERS

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, organized a One-Day State-Level Workshop for District Science Officers (DSOs) on 27 August 2024 at Andhra Loyola College.

A total of 22 District Science Officers from different districts of Andhra Pradesh participated in the workshop. Rev. Fr. P. R. John, Rector, ALC, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of science education and its role in societal development. Dr. T. Srikumar, Dr. B. Siva Kumari, and Dr. Y. T. Prabhu served as resource persons and shared their expertise on relevant aspects of science education and innovation.

The workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and exchange of ideas among science education personnel, contributing to the strengthening of science education and capacity-building initiatives.

                    








                            

24-08-2024 - ONE DAY ORIENTATION FOR INSPIRE- MANAK- DISTRICT LEVEL TEACHERS

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College in collaboration with Krishna District Education Department organized a one-day Orientation for the District Level Selected INSPIRE -MANAK- Student Projects on 24th August, 2024 at Andhra Loyola College. Total 250 selected project guide teachers attended.  Selected students and Guide Teachers attended in this programme. Inauguration of the programme held at 10.00 A.M, Rev. Fr. G.A.P. Kishore, Principal, Rev. Fr.  P.R.John, Rector Mr. M. Hussein, DSO, Krishna Dt, Dr. B. Siva Kumari, from Botany participated in this programme

06-08-2024- ONE DAY FIELD TRIP TO KONDAPALLY FOREST

The Dept. of  Botany organized  a one day  field trip to Kondapalli on 3rd August, 2024. for the second and third year Botany students. Total 33 students  and faculty members attended in this programme.

 The objective of this programme was to the biodiversity of Kondapally and also to see the Emperors construction style. Faculty members Dr. T. Rosemary and father Jayaraj accompanied the students  and explained the flora and fauna of  Kondapally.

09- 07- 2024 - HANDS ON TRAINING PROGRAMME ON MUSHROOM CULTIVATION

 As a part of the curriculum, the department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College organized  a  one day  workshop cum  hands on training  programme on  Mushroom Cultivation  on  9th   July, 2024 at Tanusri training center in Collaboration with Tanusree Mushrooms Vijayawada, for the III B.Sc DZ/ DB Students. 

Total 22 students participated in this workshop. Dr. B. Siva Kumari,  HoD of Botany Andhra Loyola College and Mr. T. Jaya Chandra acted as Resource persons. The resource persons explained the importance, cultivation, sterilization, harvesting and marketing of Mushrooms.

20-06-2024- ONE DAY FIELD TRIP TO SURVEY COLLECT THE NON CHLOROPHYLLOUS THALLOPHYTES

 FIELD TRIP FOR MUSHROOM SURVEY AND IDENTIFICATION

The Department of Botany organized a one-day field trip for the III B.Sc. Botany students on 20 June 2024 within the Andhra Loyola College campus. The objective of the field visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the diversity, collection, and identification of mushrooms through direct field observation.

During the visit, students surveyed different areas of the campus and collected specimens of various mushrooms for preliminary identification and study. The activity enabled students to relate theoretical knowledge with field-based learning and develop skills in specimen collection, observation, and identification.

A total of 20 students along with faculty members participated in the programme. The field activity enhanced students’ practical knowledge, scientific observation skills, and understanding of fungal diversity and its ecological significance, thereby contributing to experiential learning and academic enrichment.
