The Botany Major students actively participated in the FEST held on 29 November 2024. The students showcased their creativity, knowledge, and talents through various activities, gaining valuable exposure and opportunities for interaction and experiential learning.

 

29-11-2024 - VISIT TO SOLAR POWER EXPO

Dr. B. Siva Kumari attended the Solar and Green Energy Expo held at the Convention Center in Vijayawada on 29th November 2024. The event showcased innovative advancements in sustainable practices and technologies.

Key Highlights of the Visit:

1. Solar Energy Solutions:

   • Observed a variety of stalls displaying the latest solar energy technologies, including panels, inverters, and solar-powered devices.

2. Millet-Based Innovations:

   • Explored exhibits promoting millet cultivation, processing techniques, and value-added millet-based products. Emphasis was placed on the nutritional benefits of millets and their role in sustainable agriculture.

3. Nursery Establishments:

   • Examined diverse nursery setups showcasing methods of plant propagation, maintenance, and commercialization of ornamental and medicinal plants.

4. Government Subsidies and Initiatives:

   • Learned about various government schemes and subsidies available for promoting solar energy, millet farming, and nursery establishments. Information on support programs aimed at encouraging sustainable practices was shared.

The expo provided valuable insights into the integration of green energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental conservation. It highlighted the importance of adopting innovative technologies and government-supported initiatives to achieve sustainability goals.

 

22-11-2024- DEPARTMENT BOS MEETING

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, conducted a Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting on 22nd November 2024 in the Department of Botany.

The meeting was convened to discuss and review the existing curriculum and academic framework of the department. The members deliberated on curriculum development, syllabus revision, course outcomes, teaching-learning methodologies and the incorporation of emerging areas in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology.

Suggestions and recommendations were discussed to strengthen the curriculum in accordance with current scientific developments, industry requirements and higher education standards. The meeting also focused on enhancing practical learning, skill development and research-oriented learning opportunities for students.
