World Ozone Day and  “Wealth from the Waste”

Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, organized a World Ozone Day programme on “Wealth from the Waste” as part of its Environmental Awareness Programme, under the theme “Nature Is Our Future—Save It!”

The programme was organized by the Department of Botany, NSS, NGC, Eco Club and IQAC, along with the Ecology Commission of Andhra Pradesh/Telangana Jesuit Province and Xavier Board, in collaboration with the CSIR Project and Praja Pragati Trust.

The programme highlighted the importance of protecting the ozone layer, reducing plastic pollution, and promoting the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The invited talk explained how plastic waste can be responsibly recycled and converted into useful products.

As part of the initiative, Praja Pragati Trust, in association with Kia, collected plastic waste from different parts of Vijayawada and recycled it into durable benches. A few recycled plastic benches were handed over to Andhra Loyola College for use on the campus, demonstrating the practical concept of “Waste into Wealth.”

The programme encouraged students to become responsible ambassadors of environmental conservation and concluded with a call for collective action to reduce plastic pollution and protect the environment for future generations.

GARDEN AND CAMPUS CLEANING PROGRAMME

Andhra Loyola College Conducts Garden and Campus Cleaning Drive

Vijayawada, September 9, 2026: As part of the Environmental Awareness Programme, the Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, organized a Garden and Campus Cleaning Programme on September 9, 2026.

Faculty members DR. B. SIVA KUMAR HOD, DR. G. RAMESH AND KRANTHI KUMAR and 35 students actively participated in the programme and worked together to remove weeds, clean the garden areas, and maintain the campus surroundings. The activity promoted the importance of cleanliness, greenery, biodiversity conservation, and environmental responsibility among students.

The programme provided students with practical experience in maintaining a clean and eco-friendly campus and encouraged them to become responsible environmental stewards. The enthusiastic participation of the faculty and students contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

    Students Raise Their Voices Against Plastic Pollution at Andhra Loyola College

Vijayawada, September 10, 2026: Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, conducted an Elocution Competition on the theme “Plastic Pollution: A Growing Threat to Our Environment – Remedies” as part of its Environmental Awareness Programme.

The event was organized by the Department of Botany, NSS, NGC, Eco Club, Xavier Board, IQAC of ALC, and Ecology Commission of Andhra Pradesh/Telangana Jesuit Province, in collaboration with the CSIR Project and Praja Pragati Trust.

A total of 35 students participated and expressed their views on the harmful effects of plastic pollution, single-use plastics, improper waste management, threats to biodiversity, and the need for eco-friendly alternatives. The programme aimed to create environmental awareness and encourage students to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of environmental protection.

Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Vice Principal; Rev. Fr. J. Vijay, Controller of Examinations (COE); and Mr. Moses participated and encouraged the students. Faculty members of the Department of Botany supported the successful conduct of the programme.

Season of Creation Programme Held at Andhra Loyola College

Vijayawada, September 3, 2026: The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, in collaboration with the Ecology Commission of the Telangana and Andhra Province, organized a Season of Creation Pledge, Awareness Talk and Plantation Programme at the Multipurpose Hall.

The programme focused on environmental protection, plant conservation, biodiversity and sustainable living. Around 300 students participated and took a pledge to protect nature and contribute to a greener and sustainable future. A plantation activity was also conducted with the message “Pledge, Protect and Preserve.”

Rev. Fr. Dr. A. Francis Xavier, Correspondent; Fr. M. Arul Jothi, SJ, Vice Principal; Rev. Fr. J. Vijay, Controller of Examinations; and Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Botany, along with faculty members, participated in the programme.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to conserve nature and protect the environment for future generations.

              Invited Talk on “Skills to Success: Building an Entrepreneurial Mindset”

Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous), Vijayawada, organized an Invited Talk on “Skills to Success: Building an Entrepreneurial Mindset” on 02 September 2026 (Wednesday), from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., at the Multipurpose Hall. The programme was organized by the Departments of IQAC, Placement Cell and Botany, in collaboration with ALEAP (Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India).

The programme aimed to promote entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, leadership, self-confidence, opportunity identification and career development among students.

Rev. Fr. Dr. S. Melchior, SJ, Principal, delivered the Words of Welcome. Dr. B. Siva Kumari, I Vice Principal, introduced the Resource Person, Mrs. K. Rama Devi, President, ALEAP, who shared practical insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, opportunity identification, calculated risk-taking and transforming ideas into viable ventures.

Dr. S. Sree Lakshmi, Dean of Student Activities, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded successfully, inspiring students to explore entrepreneurship as a promising career pathway.
