FIELD TRIP- 20-08-2011
One day field trip to RFRC, RAJAMANDRI AND KADYAM NURSERIES.
The Dept of the Botany organized a one day field trip to Regional Forest Research Center Rajahmundry and Kadyam nurseries, for a practical outlook and work exposure to our final year students. It was on 20-08-2011 at 6:00 a.m we started to the places from our college with a number of 52 students . Around 10:30 am we reached the RFRC, Rajahmundry. Ms.Vijaya LAkshmi, Forest Development officer and Mr. Ravi Kiran, technical officer, had intuited us with a warm welcome and he gave a brief introduction about the institute and then we had the privilege of spectating a 2 hours on the research and cultivation practices on which the institution is working. Later the students visited the medicinal garden and Arboratum.
Then we moved to kadyum where different plant species were grown in a nursery. And we had the chance to observe different plant varieties which are rare. It is one of the most beautiful place and they are maintaining varied number of plants. Students learned the grafting techniques and maintenance of orchids plants.
We had returned to home by 10:00 pm night. On an inquiry the students’ responded well about the trip and expressed their views, that the trip was very joyful, informative and exploitative.
