03-02-2024 - ONE DAY HANDS ON TRAINING PROGRAMME ON MUSHROOM CULTIVATION

The Department of Botany, Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada, in collaboration with Tanusree Mushrooms, Vijayawada, organized a one-day workshop and hands-on training programme on Mushroom Cultivation on 03 February 2024 for III B.Sc. DZ students.

A total of 25 participants actively participated in the workshop. Dr. B. Siva Kumari, Andhra Loyola College, and Mr. T. Jaya Chandra, Tanusree Mushrooms, served as resource persons.

The resource persons explained the nutritional and economic importance of mushrooms and demonstrated the various stages involved in mushroom cultivation. The training covered substrate preparation, sterilization techniques, spawning, cultivation procedures, harvesting methods and marketing opportunities for different varieties of mushrooms.

The programme provided students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation. It also created awareness about mushroom farming as a sustainable, income-generating entrepreneurial activity and a potential self-

employment opportunity.
